Should I Try to Stimulate My Baby's Development in Utero?

Experts disagree as to whether trying to stimulate a baby’s development in utero is useful or not.1 Some say that baby is busy enough growing and developing, and that genetics and good prenatal nutrition are most important for brain development. Others believe that baby is capable of learning in utero,2 and that short music or story sessions of no more than ten minutes twice a day can be beneficial. Whether or not external stimuli can improve fetal brain development is a question answered differently according to who you talk to, although most agree that the mother’s voice can be calming, as can soft music.
